Freaking salt in my almond milk and cereal...SUCKS!

I can't believe this.
My almond milk has WAY more salt than I
knew.
And so does my Total cereal.
See, when you hit my age, you gotta keep
your sodium down. Not a big thing, right?
Well, come to find out that eating 2 bowls
of cereal a day with almond milk ALONE was
a ton more sodium than I had a clue of.
I mean, I knew bread was the #1 culprit for
high sodium. I knew turkey was high. And I
have a turkey sub daily.
But my freaking cereal and almoind milk?
Are you kidding me?
On the "Dash" diet the recommendation is to
have less than 5% of your daily sodium
in a product (this percentage is shown on the
contents label).
The Dash diet is great for keeping your
blood pressure in a nice, safe zone. My mum
had high blood pressure, so I'm very aware
of watching mine.
She had a stroke because she didn't control
hers that well.
And if you have a stroke, the research I read
said you have an 80% increased chance of
getting alzheimers, which she also got.
So keeping your blood pressure AOK is pretty
danged freaking important.
So anyways, there's a LOT of hidden sodium.
But when you research it, you find the
real scoop.
And the moral of the story is, if you dig
down, you often find info you didn't expect.
