it.

Secret 1: You've gotta have leads that come in daily.

That means traffic to your web site. And it means that you get
'em on your email list.
Even as I speak, I'm revamping our list getters on my web sites
and running split tests to see what works best.
But let me tell you something right here:
MYTH on squeeze pages -- everyone teaches (including me) that
you must have your action button above the fold of the computer
screen on squeeze pages, so people don't have to scroll down.
NOT TRUE.
I have a friend who gets 65%+ subscribe rate without that.
It's ALL about the offer you make.

Secret 2: Once you get people on your email list, you gotta
send out emails on auto pilot.

Now, I'm using Aweber because I built a lot of my list a LONG
time ago and it's a huge ordeal to change. But lots of

All new subscribers should get a series of emails from you that
are your best product promotions. And add in valuable content
also.
Treat your emails like a yard. Weed out the ones that don't
covert. Plant new ones. The water is adding new names to your
list.
The autoresponders is the greatest marketing invention. I
believe my friend, the late, great Corey Rudl conceived and
created the first crude autoresponder and was responsible for the
later full-blown development.

Secret 3: You gotta split test

This means you test one thing vs. another to see which gets the
better response. This is the bedrock of direct response
marketing.
Google Website Optimizer has made it fast, simple and easy for
ANYONE to split test, even if you're a newb.

Secret 4: You gotta have an affiliate program

You want to turn every customer into an evangelist and a
promoter. And yes, the skeptics say you can't do that in niches
but they just don't know HOW to do it.
You CAN do it. Just more subtly.
For example, FIRST give people a video they can put on their
Facebook or blog.

And it applies as much now as it did then. Ted Nicholas
called it "the ice cream cone." Jay Abraham calls it the
"back end" and concentric circles.
The idea is that the hardest sale to make is the first. And you
want to build up trust over time and sell more valuable and costly
products and services to your good customers.
I agree with the current trend to work your upsells and downsells.
That is sound marketing and ALWAYS has been. It's just faster,
simpler and easier to do now than before.
